Earlier this year, rumors were swirling that Super Smash Bros. for Wii U would re-release for Nintendo’s next console. While we didn’t know what the Switch was yet, word on the street was it would launch with the latest Smash and include all the DLC.
One of these early reports was from Emily Rogers, who recently provided accurate info on Switch details and when it would finally be revealed. Dr. Serkan Toto, CEO of Kantan Games, also reported that among the many Bandai Namco games being made for Switch, Smash Bros. is one of them.
Now, Laura Dale of Let’s PLay Video Games says they’ve received reports of Smash Bros. for Switch. According to Dale’s source, the port will launch alongside the long-awaited Cloud and Bayonetta Amiibo figures. Sadly, there’s no word on new content or support for the Wii U Gamecube adapter.
Of course, these are all still rumors and nothing has been confirmed by Nintendo. But while many Wii U owners will groan at the thought of having to buy the same game twice, this would be a wise move. Since plenty of gamers skipped Nintendo’s eight home console, Switch is their chance to sell titles to a bigger crowd should the innovative console be a hit.
