Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor was critically praised for its impressive Nemesis system and great use of the iconic Lord of the Ring’s lore. Monolith is now preparing an even bigger and better title that looks to improve upon their excellent 2014 title. One of the ways Shadow Of War will offer something new to players is an online multiplayer component similar to Metal Gear Solid V’s FOB missions.
The mode is called Social Conquest and will allow you to invade other players’ captured fortresses while you defend your own. After taking over a fortress you can set commanders from your Orc warriors and upgrade them to better defend your fortress. Once the fortress is shared online, other players will try to capture your base.
Two variations of Social Conquest will be included. Friendly conquests lets you keep all of their followers after combat while ranked conquest lets you compete for the top of a leaderboard but killed Orcs will be gone forever. Rewards for successful assaults include a loot chest and other spoils of war.
Middle-Earth: Shadow of War arrives on October 10th for PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
