The peculiar digital avatars known as Mii were first introduces in 2006 alongside the Nintendo Wii. Since then, they’ve starred in a number of games across the 3DS and Wii U and have even made cameos in big titles like Mario Kart 8 and Super Smas Bros. for Wii U.
Japan will get a Nintendo Direct focusing on Miitopia in a few days. But while we wait, Nintendo has provided two brief trailers for the new titles. From the looks of it, Miitopia will borrow from Tomodachi Life by combining social and RPG elements.
In the second trailer, a Mii version of top Nintendo faces show off some of Miitopia’s gameplay. Check it out to see the late Satoru Iwata alongside Shigeru Miyamoto, Reggie Fils-Aime, Bill Trinen, and Satoru Shibata.
The very end of the second trailer also confirms that Miitopia will support Amiibo functionality. Miitopia is scheduled for a December 8th release on 3DS. The November 5th Nintendo Direct starts at 4am Pacific / 7am Eastern.
