After a long wait, Nintendo has finally shown off their next home console via a short but exciting preview trailer. While no details of specs or software were given, we saw what the new device is all about.
The new console, as rumored for months, is a hybrid of console and handheld. The trailer begins with a man playing Zelda: breath of the Wild on his big screen before removing the controller’s parts and taking his game outside to play. Unlike the Wii U, the small Nintendo Switch screen is not part of the controller itself, allowing you and other players to use the system’s separate controllers to play.
The trailer continues by showing various people playing multiplayer on the same screen. A woman is also shown playing a new Mario title, as well as two people playing Mario Kart via split-screen on the same screen. Nintendo Switch also looks to feature a more traditional controller called the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller.
The trailer ends with a confirmation that Nintendo Switch will arrive 2017.
