It’s been nearly a year since we learned that a new Red Dead Redemption game was finally coming. After Rockstar Games announced this past May that Red Dead Redemption 2 would be delayed until Spring 2018, fans of the 2010 masterpiece have been anxious to learn more about its sequel. As we’ve learned from the new trailer released today, it’s actually a prequel we’ll be getting.
The trailer introduces Arthur Morgan, the protagonist of the upcoming action-western title. The story will focus on him and a group of outlaws known as the Van der Linde gang as they rob and fight their way across the Wild West of America. The Van der Linde gang, which also comes to be known as Dutch’s Gang, is the group where John Marston gains notoriety before leaving it.
While the 2010 original had plenty of locales to explore, it looks like the Old West will be even more vast in the prequel. The trailer shows a variety of new environments, including snowy mountains and murky swamps. One can only hope for this game to have a world just as big as the impressive map of Grand Theft Auto V.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is now live for pre-order on Xbox One and PS4. Neither a Switch or PC version has been announced yet.
