It’s no secret that the new My Nintendo rewards program has failed to impress fans everywhere. Despite being introduced about six months ago, Nintendo has shown no signs of trying to improve the program so it’s more appealing.
Perhaps the biggest gripe is the lack of physical rewards like were available with Club Nintendo. Instead, we’re mostly offered discounts in the range of 15%, 20%, and 30%— and only titles of Nintendo’s choosing. The fact that points expire after a certain amount of time is another major complaint.
But at least it looks like soon you’ll have another way of earning points. As tweeted out by Nintendo Force, those who ordered an NES Classic Edition are also finding a code along with it. Like with Club Nintendo, you can register the product code to receive My Nintendo points.

The person received a code for 300 Platinum Points. Although it would be nice to see Gold Points given, it’s great that Nintendo is not abandoning this idea entirely. There was certainly something special about buying a new Nintendo title and registering the code inside for Club Nintendo coins. Here’s hoping Nintendo does the same with future 3DS and Switch titles.
