For many of us, Google has become our best friend from their search engine, to Google Docs, there is hardly a limit to what the company has been willing to give us at no cost. Google finally decided to turn its strategy this year, by first releasing their first ever phone, Google Pixel.
Now, on November 10th, the company will be releasing the Google Daydream View, their new virtual reality headset.
Daydreaming About Virtual Reality
Virtual reality enthusiasts are probably familiar with the Google Viztech VR Cardboard, which was released last year with a small price tag of just $10. These assemble-yourself headsets were met with much success in a world where virtual reality is intriguing but mostly inaccessible to most due to its price. However, with lower price also comes the lower quality.
Now, with the Daydream View, Google is looking to step up their game.
The Google Daydream View virtual reality headset will be released on November 10th for just $79. An affordable entry price for virtual reality and not to mention a great Christmas present!
Google’s virtual reality headset differentiates itself in not just its price, but also its comfort. Most headsets are plastic, which makes them uncomfortable and may even take away from the VR experience. The Google Daydream View has foam padding lining the parts that touch your face, taking away from the discomfort of the device.
The Pixelated Daydream
While the Daydream is affordable, there is certainly a catch. At this time, the headset is only usable with the Google Pixel phone, which has a hefty price tag of over $600. Just released at the end of October, this phone has a 5 inch display, 1920 x 1080 resolution, 4 GB RAM, a 7 hour battery life that can be fully charged in 15 minutes, and, best of all, an artificial intelligence assistant.
This phone is more intelligent that your standard Siri or Cortana, which may appeal to some and off-put others. Make sure you stay tuned for more updates on phones that are Daydream capable!
