After what has recently became the biggest surprise of the century when the American Election results were all tallied up, several Facebook employees were furious at Zuckerberg for not addressing the ‘Fake News’ issue properly and are now building a task force on their own.
‘Strike Force Eagle 3’ – the Facebochery
This unofficial group will function within the social media giant, and will tackle all issues related to the plethora of fake news regarding Donald Trump and his opposing candidates.
Facebook currently holds 150 million American users, which were recently subjected to borderline questionable, and more often than not misleading and untrue information.
The employees also said that Facebook CEO Marc Zuckerberg’s statement that fake news didn’t affect the Election in any possible way was simply untrue. They followed their statement with a confirmation that fake news in regards to the recent American Election ran wild as never before in the history of the network.
They only agreed to reveal this information to BuzzFeed News under the cloak of anonymity.
So far, details regarding the task force are not known. It’s only revealed that the group currently counts more than dozens of employees, which are operating under secret.
How this is legal and what consequences will it bring for the social media company, it still remains to be seen.
And since a recent study found out that half Americans rely on Facebook for their news consumption, the role Zuckerberg’s firm has played is perhaps more significant than anybody thought.
