Electronic Arts started their Gamescom press briefing by showing off the new Starfighter Assault Mode for the upcoming Battlefront II. Instead of only featuring TIE Fighters and X-Wings like in the first Battlefront title, players will have a number of different spacecrafts at their disposal. Some of these include TIE Bombers, Y-Wings, A-Wings, Poe’s Black One X-Wing Fighter, Boba Fett’s Slave One, Darth Maul’s Scimitar, and of course, the Millennium Falcon.
Starfighter Assault matches have three stages; the first involving the REbel Alliance trying to destroy two IMperial Cruisers guarding the station while Imperial players protect them. If the Rebel side is successful, their next step is to take out the base’s shield protectors. The third stage of the fight involves disabling the power couplings to reveal the station’s core, which takes a single shot to destroy.
Star Wars Battlefront II launches Nov 17 for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. A multiplayer beta kicks off the first week of October.
