When The Lord of the Rings Online first launched in 2007 it had been three years since the epic fantasy trilogy had concluded on the big screen. Those who thought the Middle-Earth hype had died down by then couldn’t have been more wrong as LOTR Online launched to wide universal acclaim for its fantastic world, gameplay, and more.
Since then, five big expansions have released to help make LOTR Online the third most played MMORPG as of 2010. The upcoming sixth expansion will take players where they’ve wanted to go since the MMO first launched— Mordor. The expansion will also feature more than 300 new quests, a brand new allegiance system, more crafting and gear options, and a new playable race, the High Elves.
Below is a stream where the developers talk more about the ‘Mordor’ expansion and other upcoming plans:
Lord of the Rings Online is available on PC and macOS. While you can play the base game for free, grabbing all the expansions will cost you around $40. The ‘Mordor’ expansion goes live July 31st of this year.
