StarCraft is one of those games that helped shape the RTS genre into what it is today. Its success spawned a media franchise that includes several spin-off games, more than eight novels, tons of merchandise, and a sequel. Now, Blizzard is preparing a revamped version that comes with 4K visuals, superior audio and dialogue quality, better multiplayer and social features, cloud saving, and more. StarCraft: Remastered releases this Summer 2017.
Since Blizzard are such nice guys, the original StarCraft is also now free to play as long you have Windows 7, 8.1 or 10. The update also comes with several technical improvements, including better anti-cheat capabilities and better installation/patching performance. You can revisit the game that started it all by downloading it here.
