League of Legends has seen a lot of changes since it first arrived in 2009. Riot Games consistently tweaking their iconic MOBA title might be one of the reasons it’s managed to remain one of the most popular PC games in the world. Now, the game will receive its biggest changes yet to help bring in new players while keeping veterans engaged.
Along with removing the level 30 cap, Riot Games will merge blue essence with IP to better reward players of all experience. The merge is due to problems they were seeing in their current reward and leveling systems. While new players struggled to grind for enough IP to unlock new Champions, veteras didn’t have enough interesting content to spend all their IP on.
Instead of earning IP after each game, players will unlock reward chests each time they level up. Other changes coming next season include receiving more blue essence from disenchanted shards, no more IP boosts available for purchase, and better daily missions.
The new Runes Reforged System is planned to go live later this month.
