When people thought about Guerrilla Games the last decade or so, one franchise came to mind— Killzone. But today, the Amsterdam game developer is known for creating one of the best open world titles of this generation and a strong contender for Game of the Year.
Guerilla Games took to their website to thank fans after Horizon Zero Dawn sold more than 2.6 million copies in its first two weeks. Sales include both physical and digital copies. The PlayStation 4 exclusive was hotly anticipated since its reveal at E3 2015 and didn’t fail to impress reviewers and players alike upon release.
If there’s one thing this console generation needs, its more new IPs like Horizon Zero Dawn to give us fresh worlds and stories to play. We still love our Uncharted, Halo, and Zelda, but the fact that Guerrilla Games gambled on a new universe and it paid off should help convince other developers to do the same.
